I went to the doctor and i have astigmatism, I have to wear glasses now:(
And by the way, how is your vision?
Speaking about lasik surgery, how much does it cost??? Thanks
It may or it may not…it’s hard to predict but usually if the power is too much it won’t go away. Astigmatism will keep your vision blurry since the eyeball is not shaped like a perfect round object but more shaped like a football. I wore glasses for 15 years and I had really bad myopia and astigmatism and it never went away. I had Lasik about a year ago and I don’t have to wear glasses anymore.
yes it will, as long as you’re wearing the right prescription. they have contacts for astigmatism to. you should check into those. chances are good that you’ll have to wear one or the other for the rest of your life, unfortunately.
You can only perfect your vision by getting lasik surgery.
My vision is really bad. I don’t know the number, but I can’t see how many fingers I’m holding up if I extended my hand out in front of me. I wear contacts and then glasses at night.
Yes, glasses will work, but when it comes to astigmatism, there’s no telling how much. Depending on how bad it is, they may not be able to get you to 20/20 or even close. I satrted wearing glasses in 6th grade (I’m 27 now) and my eyesite is terrible. I even get new glasses every year, but at this point there’s not much they can do aside from lasic surgery.
I have astigmatism and I wear glasses. Glasses improve your vision when you are wearing them, but if you are asking if by wearing glasses it will fix your astigmatism no it will not.
With glasses my eyesight still isn’t perfect, but I can see that’s what matters to me. With glasses I have 20/25 vision. I guess I will never be a pilot.
Well, I have a lazy eye, which is not noticeable. It’s my right one. My doctor said I can use glasses, but it wouldnt help….. So I don’t….My vision unfortunately can’t be corrected – and if I lost my left eye, I’d be legally blind…. Soooo, be glad your at least able to use both ; )
If you don’t want to wear glasses ask about the Acu-vue for astigmatisms. I don’t really know if they work because I don’t have an astigmatism. My eye sight is 50-40, yeah really bad. haha.
I highly doubt it.. glasses will only help you see correctly they won’t correct any eye problems you have.
Same with contacts. If you ever wish to get them they will have to be specifically fit to your eye so they will stay positioned right.
I have glasses for about 16 years now and all my eyes do is get worse.
At first, your eyes will have to adjust to having the glasses on. So don’t be surprised if you get eye fatigue or headaches in the first week or two of wearing your new glasses. The glasses will correct the astigmatism, but they will not cure it. Once the glasses are off, you won’t be able to see correctly. And astigmatisms, like any other vision problem, do tend to get worse over time. Wearing glasses regularly will help to slow this process though. You should have your eyes examined once a year, and always have your new prescription put into the glasses. I have an astigmatism also. Mine is only at about a -.50 though, so it is really small. The glasses do help.
Try the Acu-Vu contacts; I’m not sure about glasses. I wear glasses, don’t remember my vision. I’m nearsighted, tho.
Astigmatism is not a vision problem, it’s a structural problem within the eye from what I know. Glasses correct vision problems, however take advice from your doctor and someone who actually has astigmatism. There are surgical and non-surgical options.
I have astigmatism and am near-sighted; with my glasses my vision is 20-20 in my left eye and 20-15 in my right. Without glasses I can’t even read a wall calendar from 3 feet away.
Depending on how severe your astigmatism is, you might be able to wear contacts instead of glasses.
That is something you would have to ask your doctor althogh as someone with astigmatism I know that my glasses don’t improve my vision, they just help to keep my vision from deteriorating faster.
Unless they catch it in childhood, and make you wear a patch to strengthen the affected eye, there really isn’t any way to improve the condition. It’s caused by a misshapen piece in the eye and short of lasik there is no "cure" for it. They have also recently designed contacts for people with astigmatism, and I hear they are very effective, although I am not too fond of poking my finger in my eye. Before you get too disappointed about glasses, look around at the different styles that are available. Wal mart offers some really cute ones at fairly low prices.
I have had to wear glasses since I was 5 and am still legaly blind in my left eye from the astigmatism, but after a while, you get used to it. But if the thought of wearing glasses or contacts bothers you, look into lasik. It has been very sucessful and I’ve heard it’s reasonably pricred and it would free you from both permanently.
well i have a bad stigmatism and wear contacts i used 2 have glasses though and no sorry it wont improve it!! lasik surgery costs bout 300$$ in 2003 when my mom had it done but i imagine the price went up!! my vision is really bad i have a stigmatism of -2.25 and my actual eyesite w/ out the stigmatism is bout -3.00 im guessing and right now they can correct a stigmatism of -2.50 and im only 13 so my eyes will likely get worse!! and if they dont improve it i cant get lasik surgery!! oh my mom didnt have a stigmatism and she was a -9 leagly blind!! but now she sees 20/20 cause of the surgery!! lucky her!! hoped i helped!!
