Corrective lenses are nothing more than pieces of glass which are cut to a specific curve (your prescription) so that as light enters these glasses, it focuses the image you see on your retina in just the right place. The retina reacts to this light and transports the information to the brain, which the brain translates this information into the actual image. In order for the image to appear correctly, three things happen. The image produced is reduced in size to fit onto the retina. The scattered light focuses at the surface of the retina. Then, the image curves to match the curve of the retina.
In order to make this process happen, the eye contains a lens between the retina and the pupil. The lens and the cornea, a transparent covering, then work together, which focuses the image on the retina. Vision problems occur when the image focused on the retina is focused either too far back, leading to farsightedness or too far in, leading to nearsightedness. In addition to these conditions, glasses can also work to assist with those suffering from crossed eyes, where the eyes refuse to focus together, which produces two of the same object in the field of vision, which leads to blurriness of both objects.
How glasses correct these problems is determined by what type of lens the glasses are made of. The two types of lenses are the plus and minus lens. The plus lens has a convex shape which focuses images on the retina when the eye’s lens originally focuses the image too far back. The minus lens has a concave shape, which focuses images on the retina when the eye’s lens originally focuses the image too close. Different strengths of these lenses determine how far back or how far forward the focus should be brought so that the image is displayed correctly on the retina.

i like food

Well of course vegetables, with plenty of antioxidants. Don’t strain your eyes, and the ever-so popular stress. I know it’s hard, but try to relieve it, it’ll take the strain off your eyes. Rest alot.

Glasses don’t improve your vision… they help you see better with the vision you have.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
Eyeglasses don’t fix the problem with your eyes they just make it so that you can still see. If you have a degenerative problem with your eyes they will get worse until you have that problem treated (if it can be treated).
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
glasses are like magnifying glasses for your eyes they dont make your eyesight get better only help you see
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
I wear both glasses and contacts. My vision is actually better than 20/20 with contacts. Why don’t you give contacts a try!
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
Thye dont improve your vision…like your eyesigh, they just clear things up with them on..i think you are misunderstanding the doctor.. :S http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgPpvhHzoZC01qZKQK4e.kDsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090721121312AA3yksO

Wearing glasses makes your eyes more relaxed and inevitably worse untill you go blind, enjoy.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
I’ve always heard carrots improve vision. Also, shortening your time in front of the computer or television will help as well.
And they say you are supposed to update your prescription at least every 2 years because our eyes are constantly changing.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
it doesn’t improve ur vision, it just makes u see better. what idiot told u that?
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
You seem to be misunderstanding what is going on. Unlike your post hints, it isn’t your glasses making your euye sight worse. I hope its obvious that vision becomes less sharp with age, and if your eyes were bad to begin with, the process is sped up. Glasses are only a patch on the problem, if your eyes get worse, you need stronger glasses. Sorry, there are no foods you can eat to help repair eye sight. I’m sure someone will say carrots or some weird thing, but that is only a prevention thing, and only gives chemicals to the body in which is used by the eye more than other foods.

ya ive had glasses for 4 years.
and my eyes have gotten worse.
my mom says i should eat carrots.
but i hate them lol
but carrots have carotene in it which helps your vision so you should eat carrots.

Your eyes would get worse even without glasses. Your eyes can be corrected by surgery, but would then get worse.
There are health nuts and vision theories that will encourage you to do all kinds of useless things. Some encourage you to wear weaker glasses so as to not "relax" your eyes to the default position.
Your vision doctor is your best source for reliable information. If you want you can see someone fresh out of medical school, do so.

Glasses do not improve your vision in any way. They only make it so that it redirects light into the optic nerve so they can be transfered into your brain as clear images. If you do not want to see blurry the best things you can do are: Wear glasses, wear contacts, eat carrots (This doesn’t help a whole lot), or get laser eye surgery, which is a very effective option. I hope I helped

Glasses don’t improve your vision, they correct faulty vision. There is a difference. When the lenses in your eyes don’t focus properly, you can’t see. Glasses provide the correction that is missing in your natural lenses.
As you grow older, your eyes change (that’s why so many older people find they have to wear glasses to read) and that is likely what is happening to your eyes. The remedy for that is a stronger glasses prescription.
To encourage your natural lenses to become more efficient, you can try ‘palming’ – putting you open hand over one eye and forcing the other eye to focus on objects at different distances, then change over to make the other eye do the work. Sometimes it helps, but not always.

Glasses don’t make it better, I had the same experience.
But foods that are supposed to help are like carrots… honestly it doesn’t really work
and I’ve also heard that the longer the hair the more likely you are to have eye issues.
Don’t really know what to say about it.. try asking your doctor. But Lasik would probably be your best bet.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
glasses don’t make your eyes get better overtime
when people say the improve your eye site they are talking about the fact that you can see better when you put them on than when you have them off…. so they "improved" your eye site

You should try reading more. It might improve your eyesight. And it will definitely improve your grammar. Trust me, reading won’t make your grammar any "worst".
Or just go with like laser…

Fix Permanent Lens by using perfect doctor advice………..

The reason you eye-sight has gotten worse is that your eyes have become dependent on your glasses. This does not necessarily improve you eyesight without the glasses, just while wearing them. The only food that I have heard of that might help eyesight is carrots. So eat a bunch. There also are some exercises that you can do with your eyes (I believe while not wearing glasses/contacts) to help strengthen your eyesight. An example of this is at http://www.byregion.net. Check out this sight, Try it out. If it doesn’t work just google it and see about a better exercise.

In most cases the status of your eyes is hereditary. Wearing glasses will neither make the eyes better or worse. Before the age of 20 nearsightedness tends to get worse and farsightedness tends to improve whether you wear glasses or not.
Orthokeratology which uses specially fitted hard gas permeable contact lenses have been shown to improve vision.
Carrots are only good for night vision.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
Eat a lot of onions or garlics it isn’t tasty but it improves your vision.
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
carrots can help but no matter what anybody sais they dont work.
Listen Im 16 and my glasses are somewhat thick the lenses are for my age. I want contacts I cant stand my glasses I look better without them. I do not know how anybody can improve their vision yea some may say that lasic eye surgery will help but it wont do not get it.
My eye doctor said thats even with lasic you will still need reading glasses. She has also said that lasic is not worth the cost and people do not know how to treat the effects it may cause.
Any way live your life the way you want until somebody has the answer to your vision
2. April 2010 at 6:57 am
Glasses/lenses only correct your vision by refracting light onto the retina- they don’t improve your vision- thats why many people who have glasses are stuck with them permanently.
