Some common eye diseases:
A sty is an acute infection or inflammation of the secreting glands of the eyelid. A sty can also arise from an infected hair follicle at the base of an eyelash. It is sometimes referred to as a pigpen or “pig parlor.” Sties are usually areas of bare ground and / or mud. It is caused by bacteria that normally live peacefully on the surface of the eyelid skin. It is a red, painful swelling on the edge or inside of your eyelid that may look like a boil or a pimple. Also known as hordeolums, styes can be caused by different factors, such as blocked or infection or inflammation of the eyelid eyelids. Contaminated fingers that touch the eye area can also cause infection. The eyelid becomes sore. The infection can spread along the eyelid and the whole lid may become red and inflamed. If an internal Stye not drain and heal, it can become a Chalazion. A sty results from an acute infection of the oil glands of the eyelid that occurs after these glands have become clogged.

Conjunctivitis can be caused by infections (such as bacteria and viruses), allergies, or substances that irritate the eyes. Three main agents associated with follicular conjunctivitis, pre adenopathy, and superficial keratitis are adenovirus, chlamydia, herpes simplex e. Conjunctiva is a loose connective tissue covering the surface of the eyeball (bulbar conjunctiva) and reflects on himself back to form the inner layer of the eyelid. Inflammation of this membrane is called conjunctivitis. Its common name, pink eye, can refer to all forms of conjunctivitis, or just its contagious forms.

Whole or part of liver is removed immediately from the patients who are brain dead but have functioning organs and transplanted to a patient of chronic liver disease.

History of liver transplantation

Initial attempt to transplant liver were carried out in animals like dogs and cats. First human liver transplant was carried out in 1963; patient lived for few days and succumbed to death. Discovery of better immunosuppressant drugs and understanding of pathophysiology lead to improved survival gradually. Dr. Thomas Starzl performed the first successful liver transplant in 1967 in America. There have been many advances since then and by the early 1980′s liver transplantation was widely accepted as a treatment of choice for many patients with advanced liver disease or unbearable symptoms of their liver disease. Techniques and technology have been advancing and a lot of research is going on in basic sciences like immunology and cell biology for further improvement. Transplantation of organ spells out the success story of medical science of twentieth century.

Pressure in the eye is usually balanced and plays an important part in the functioning of the eye. This pressure is created when a fluid (known as aqueous) produced by cells behind the iris, passes through the pupil to be drained away by drainage tunnels in the angle of the eye (gap between the cornea and the iris). Pressure increases if the angle becomes blocked and the aqueous cannot drain away fast enough, or if too much aqueous is produced.

Chronic glaucoma is more common in Western countries than acute glaucoma, but is easier to treat. This form of glaucoma causes no pain, and your eyesight seems normal, despite the damage being done to your optic nerve. Many people who have had chronic glaucoma for a long time before diagnosis complain of one eye’s vision being worse than the others, or a loss of field vision in the shape of an arc above or below the centre of their vision. If left untreated, it can result in “tunnel-vision”, and in time, this too is lost. It is more common in people over the age of 40, and it affects 5% of the population over the age of 65. People of African origin are said to be more prone to glaucoma, as well as those with a high degree of short sightedness. Treatment includes eye drops (to reduce the amount of aqueous you produce, and to unblock the drainage tunnels) and laser surgery, to improve drainage.

Acute glaucoma is characterised by sudden pain in the eye, as well as the appearance of misty rainbow coloured circles surrounding white lights. This may be followed by complete loss of sight and nausea and vomiting. Usually, people experience a series of mild attacks in the evenings, and with routine inspection at the hospital or GP’s surgery, acute glaucoma is diagnosed. It is initially treated with drops to reduce the amount of aqueous produced, and then a small hole is made in the iris to remove the blockage in the angle. It is recommended that this is done to both eyes, as if you suffer with acute glaucoma in one eye, it is highly likely that you will contract it in the other.

It is important to attend your optician appointments, because even if you feel as though your eyesight is fine, there may be damage to your optic nerve, which will reduce your quality of vision in the long run. While this condition is not common, neither is it rare and quick diagnosis is important to maintaining healthy eyesight.

If you must know, there are things you need to know which will provide you better eyesight. You need to find ways for your eyes before it get worse. In every aspect of things there are solutions for it. This program will offer you ways to get better eyesight. Basically the program is for those who are seeking a dramatic improvement in their eyesight and their overall emotional and physical health and happiness.

You need to strengthen your eye with exercises because as the eye gets stronger, vision get’s better all the way to the point where you can safely throw away your glasses or contacts, permanently. Note that exercise makes eyes to be stronger and also provide your eyes with sharper, clearer, and more focused eye sight.

You may be thinking, “I’ll just look into corrective eye surgery so I don’t have to worry about my vision being affected by glasses or contacts.” Sorry, to say, but surgery won’t fix your vision problems either.
